So the deadline for the 2nd round of the DAWGs tournament is coming up fast. Over the past month I've considered and reconsidered how I want to go about doing this round. Unlike the last round (which I still have to redo some pages for), I've decided to take a whole new approach to 'storytelling' through art and focus on only a handful of broad, self-speaking speedpaints in chronological order instead of the tedious million-panel method of comic making. I figure that working like this is more of my forte, and can be a refreshing change from how most everyone else is going about the tournament. Basically, I'm aiming for around 5 or so speedpaintings to give a general depiction of what happens for each bounty. That means no dialogue, no unnecessary details, etc. The bad part of this method is that I miss out sharing tiny side-stories during the bounty hunt and working with a lot of facial expressions. The good part of all this is that it lets the reader (viewer, actually) read between the lines and string all the parts together. Saving time was also going to be a benefit, but it turns out it takes me just as long to finish a sloppy painting like this as it does to complete a comic. I certainly enjoy this method much better and like how it's turning out so far.
So enough nonsense blabbering. This is part 1 of the 2nd episode, called The Plan. We have Gabriella talking or probably just listening to 's character, Mellu, giving some sort of plan of action.
Yeah, I'm gonna try and make through another round, though I got off to a pretty slow start. I've been so busy, I haven't been able to even look at anyone else's work. Looks like you're doing very well this round, though!
Well I'd be dead if the old deadline was still in place. As it stands I have finals right now anyways. Art class is getting in the way of my art, lol. I'm sure it's the same with you. Good luck on this round!
a-ho-ho man, you really got me scared about the tournement... BUT THIS LOOKS SO COOL!!! I can't wait to see the next one!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Merry Christmas to you out there but don't forget: we are only guests here and so...listen to my favourite words... and look at all these wonderful pieces of art
